What’s more important than safety? The buildings where we live and work are our sanctuaries, and everything we put in them should keep us safe and well. Automatic doors are part of that. They’re not the most glamorous solutions, and when they’re working well you don’t even notice they’re there. But quietly, in the background, they’re packed with features that improve safety for every user.
Safe automatic doors for swing doors
DIGIWAY door openers automate swing doors so that users don’t need to push or even touch them to gain entry. They operate either as standalone solutions, or via connection to a centralised access control system. They’re discreet, quiet, and reliable. In fact, we test every single DIGIWAY door operator that comes out of our factory in Italy individually. When it comes to safety, we don’t compromise.
Day-to-day safety with DIGIWAY
Most of the time, a good door automation solution is one you don’t even notice. It operates efficiently, quietly, and without incident. DIGIWAY door operators are equipped with a wide range of features that make normal day-to-day usage a breeze.
Instant obstacle detection
During the installation and configuration process for DIGIWAY door operators, the unit undergoes its self-calibration procedure. The door opens to its fullest extent and then closes again repeatedly. At the same time, the DIGIWAY is calculating precisely how much electrical current it needs to push the door open and closed. Once it knows that, any unusual activity flags straightaway. If an obstacle such as an item or a person sits in the path of the door, the operator requires extra electrical current to push the door past it. As soon as it detects this increase in current, the door instantly ceases its movement. This prevents potential injury and accidents with the moving door, as well as acting as a fail-safe in the case that safety sensors don’t pick up the obstacle.
Durability for years to come
DIGIWAY door operators come from our factory near Venice in Italy. The components that go into them are manufactured from high quality materials, and with every unit tested individually before shipping, they’re seriously reliable. The arm on the DIGIWAY unit operates with a ball joint that allows up to 11 degrees of movement. That means it fits more doors and door frame configurations, and enables self-levelling so the door’s movement is smooth and safe. Plus, we’ve tested it for more than two million cycles. If your door opened 100 times a day, that would last you more than 54 years!
Safer emergency response with DIGIWAY
In an emergency, doors suddenly become extremely important. Whether it’s keeping them locked or enabling swift and safe exit, doors play a big role in emergency preparedness.
Integrated fire safety
First of all, the DIGIWAY Spring Return door operator is certified fire rated under the EN1634-1 regulations for up to 60 minutes. That means it resists the effects of fire and smoke for up to an hour, giving occupants more all-important time to safely escape. In addition, thanks to its chain-driven return mechanism, the DIGIWAY SR can be safely pushed open in an emergency so that people can exit faster.
Easy escape routes
Moreover, connecting the door operator to your fire alarm system is easy. And once it’s connected, you can configure the door to do whatever you want in the event of the fire alarm being triggered. Perhaps you want the door to close and lock, driving people towards a different exit door. Or perhaps you want some doors to lock and others to automatically open, showing occupants a clear escape route. Either way, you’re improving fire safety for everyone.
