Do you dread installing automatic doors? Is it too complicated, fiddly, unreliable? Or maybe you’ve never tried it; maybe you stick with access control and locking. Let’s be up front – we’re here to change your mind! Door automation doesn’t have to be difficult. When you choose DIGIWAY, you get more. More simplicity and more flexibility to make every project a breeze.

Get more simplicity with DIGIWAY

How DIGIWAY product hardware makes installation easier

This is what a DIGIWAY swing door operator looks like under the hood:

Can you see its little LCD screen? It’s a small addition, but one that makes a big difference. It makes life easier when you can navigate the menus and see what you’re doing. The screen also shows information like the door status, meaning it’s clear at a glance. And moreover, with the DIGIWAY smartphone app, you can see the readout of the unit’s screen on your phone. All the controls are exactly the same, it’s just you can operate them from a comfortable chair instead of up a ladder.

Speaking of operating the unit, that’s easy peasy as well, thanks to DIGIWAY’s on-board programmer. You have three different choices for how and where to press buttons. First, you can use the physical five-button controls on the operator itself. Or, as I mentioned, we’ve got an app that does exactly the same thing but with added convenience. Or, if you’re old-school, we provide a hand-held transmitter in the package that pairs with DIGIWAY.

And that’s a nice segue into the next big DIGIWAY feature that simplifies installations: its built-in radio receiver. In access control, radio transmission is a bit of a dark horse. Many installers aren’t as familiar with it and as a result, they tend to choose wired solutions instead. But allow me to try and change your mind. Signals sent by radio transmission travel through the air. Let’s say the user pushes an exit button, and that exit button transmits its command directly to the DIGIWAY. Do you know what that means for you, the installer? It means absolutely no need to lay cables between the button and the DIGIWAY. And as we all know, cabling is a tedious, time-consuming, and expensive business. Less of it is a win for everybody.

Simplify setup & configuration with DIGIWAY

Simplicity isn’t just reserved for the DIGIWAY hardware. Configuration and calibration are easy, too. For basic installations of the DIGIWAY Plus door operator, there’s no need to overcomplicate things. From the main menu, just select the Setup Wizard. A friendly but quietly terrifying cloaked and bearded man will appear. Just kidding – it will take you step-by-step through the initial setup, though. It couldn’t be easier!

Once you’ve got through the basic setup, your next step is calibration. This is where you figure out the size, weight, position and travel path of the door in normal usage. Fortunately, you can put your tape measure away. DIGIWAY does this by itself! Once you initiate self-calibration, the DIGIWAY begins a process of opening and closing the door five times. All the while, it’s calculating the precise measurements it needs to know to deliver smooth and safe operation. And you? You’re watching it all happen, preferably with a mug of something warm.

So. The DIGIWAY gave you step-by-step instructions for basic setup. Then it calibrated itself for you. Now what? It’s working perfectly, your customer is delighted, and off you go to your next project. How do you know when to go back to service the DIGIWAY? What if your customer doesn’t want to commit to annual services? Well, guess what. DIGIWAY solves that problem for you, too. The DIGIWAY service mode tracks the usage of the operator based on the number of cycles it’s run since installation. And then it tells you when it’s time for a service. So that means not only is your customer saving costs on pre-scheduled services that might not be necessary, it means you’re not going in blind for a service or fix when the time does come. Simple!

Get more flexibility with DIGIWAY

DIGIWAY makes life simpler. We’ve established that. But did you know that it’s also equipped with all sorts of features that mean adapting it to different doors is easy?

Everybody knows that working with doors and door frames in the UK means never really knowing what sizes or shapes you’re going to be working with. Any door furniture or hardware needs to be flexible enough to accommodate the myriad of different configurations we have in our doorways. For starters, every DIGIWAY unit comes with a universal arm kit. That’s the bits for both an inward-opening and an outward-opening door, all in the same box. So you only ever need to order one part and you’ll never have that heart-sinking moment when you get to site and realise the door opens the wrong way.

I know the arm of a door automation unit doesn’t sound like a particularly exciting thing. But just trust me. The DIGIWAY arm uses a double ball joint configuration, offering up to 11 degrees of movement. When you’re working with doors, those tiny adjustments make a big difference. So that arm setup means it’s adaptable to so many more doors, and moreover it’s self-levelling. Plus, did I mention you can install DIGIWAY on doors with a reveal of up to 200mm? For residential installations with deeper doorframes, that level of flexibility is a big bonus.

And it’s not just the DIGIWAY unit itself that adapts to different needs. It’s everything it connects to as well. Your next DIGIWAY project might be:

  • DIGIWAY connected to a centralised access control system, with Wiegand readers and complex user permissions.
  • A simple standalone solution, with a wireless GALEO keypad triggering the door to open through DIGIWAY’s onboard Normally Open relay.
  • A DIGIWAY unit connected through its fire input to the building’s fire alarm system, instantly closing all doors except escape routes as soon as the alarm is triggered.

All possible, all simple, all effective automatic door solutions.
